Cancun, Q.R. — A Porsche that was destroyed after hitting a palm tree was found abandoned in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The accident happened after midnight Tuesday at kilometer 11.5 of Kukulcan Boulevard.
Police arrived at the site after motorist reports of the accident. At the scene, Transit found a Porsche with its front end completely smashed in after slamming into the base of a palm tree. However, the driver was nowhere to be seen.
The car was abandoned in a lane after hitting the tree in the central median. Pieces of the front end of the car were found scattered at the base of the heavily marked tree along with a few cocos.
Police will use city surveillance cameras to identify the driver. Transit did not say if the car was private or a rental.
