Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Another legal conflict over property has left dozens out on the street. On Thursday morning, police arrived at Blue Palms condominium on 14th Street of Playa del Carmen with an eviction notice.
Everyone from inside the building was evicted as both State and Municipal Police guarded the entrance while men removed furniture from inside the building. Furniture was hauled out piece-by-piece and left on the road to where a moving truck eventually arrived.
According to a lawyer who identified herself as Nallely “N”, the eviction is due to a legal property battle. The battle is an ongoing lawsuit between a company and individual people, both of whom, continue to claim ownership.
A judge ordered the seizure of the property to be carried out Thursday morning. Local authorities were notified of the court order that had municipal SSC police at the scene. The legal battle over who actually owns the property has been going on for 15 years.
