Cozumel, Q.R. — A man reported for wielding a machete at neighbors was arrested in Cozumel. Residents of the Repobladores subdivision made the report after seeing at least two intoxicated men arguing and armed with bricks and a machete.
“During a crime prevention tour, elements of the Public Security Directorate received a disturbance of public order report among drunk people on 90th Avenue with 3rd Street South in the Repobladores neighborhood.
“They went to the place and upon arrival observed a group of people arguing with machete and bricks in hand. Agents immediately requested the support of other units and proceeded to approach the group of people to contain the situation,” Policia Cozumel explained in a statement.
Once there, police confirmed the fight was between two men who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol. One of them was trying to attack the other with a machete. The situation was eventually diffused and the machete-wielding man arrested.
The second man involved fled when police arrived. He was intercepted but, according to Cozumel Police, “did not want to file a complaint” against his “drinking buddy”.
