Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A former security guard has been convicted in the murder of a young Riviera Maya hotel worker. The murder of 21-year-old Ana Gómez “H” happened on the grounds of a Riviera Maya hotel in December of 2020.
Her body was found in a green area of the hotel on December 28 after her family reported her missing December 18. The man, who has been formally charged with her murder, was a coworker.
Carlos Alberto “G” was arrested in relation to the murder shortly after her body was found in 2020. Police used hotel security footage as part of their investigation.
Three years after his arrest, Carlos Alberto “G” was convicted. On April 12, a judge found him guilty of the murder of Ana Gómez “H”.
The young woman worked at the same hotel as Carlos Alberto “G” also as a security guard. On the day of her murder, he had accompanied her on a path of the hotel property as she left her shift around 3:30 p.m.
She was heading to her home in Puerto Aventuras when Carlos Alberto “G” is reported to have sexually assaulted and killed her. Ana Gómez “H” was originally from Chiapas. Authorities have not reported on sentencing.
