Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A total of eight vehicles were found end-to-end on a Playa del Carmen overpass access Tuesday. The major afternoon rear-ends caused a traffic snarl on one of the city’s most busy roadways.
The chain reaction accident happened around noon when, for reasons unknown, a city taxi braked quickly while going up the overpass access road. In reaction, seven other vehicles hit one another.
Transit authorities arrived to sort out the long line of bumper damage felt by most involved. Of the eight total vehicles, three were reported to have been hit hard and left with extensive damage.
Authorities from the Traffic Directorate closed access to the highway bridge until the vehicles were towed. There were no serious injuries reported.
