Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun motorists heading home using Colosio Boulevard Wednesday became part of traffic chaos due to a multi-vehicle crash. Cancun Transit were on site after both lanes were affected.
Transit Police were at the scene of the early evening accident that involved five vehicles. A white van and four cars were reported damaged as the result of the mishap.
“Traffic in both directions is affected on Colosio Boulevard near the North South Supply Center and from South to North (Cancun-Playa del Carmen and Playa del Carmen-Cancun). Personnel from Transito are on site,” Tránsito de Cancún reported around 7:20 p.m.
An ambulance was part of the responding personnel to the crash that left only material damage, no seriously injured drivers.
According to early information, the driver of a red car lost control and jumped the median, hitting a van that then involved three other cars. At the scene, police were left to sort out the tangled mess that involved an Avanza, Hyundai, Jetta, Versa and Fiat Mobi.
Traffic was snarled for more than an hour while the road was cleared of broken debris and the vehicles removed by tow trucks.
