Cancun authorities make arrests in Christmas day murder

Cancun, Q.R. — Two men have been arrested in Cancun for the beating death of a local resident on Christmas day. The pair were picked up Wednesday on outstanding warrants issued by a Cancun judge.

According to the State Attorney General (FGE), arrest warrants were executed against two people for their probable participation in the qualified homicide of a Cancun man on Christmas Day.

“The defendants, Alexander “N” and Alfredo de Jesús “N”, are accused of events that occurred on December 25, 2023, when, together with four other people, they located the victim to move him to a building where they beat him to the point of depriving him of his life,” the FGE reported.

“The now accused intended to dispose of the body, but they were intercepted by elements of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Traffic of Benito Juárez and the State Police,” the FGE added.

The FGE says that both Alexander “N” and Alfredo de Jesús “N” are believed connected with a criminal group that generates violence in Cancun with the sale of drugs.
