Cozumel, Q.R. — The National Guard responded to the report of a shooting in front of a Cozumel school Tuesday afternoon. Residents reported the sound of gunfire around 2:20 p.m. from the Maravilla area.
Authorities responding to the report of gunfire located a deceased adult male behind the wheel of his car. The white Jetta was parked in front of a school where the heavily tattooed man was shot and left for dead.
Witnesses told police that two men on a motorcycle approached the victim’s car and began shooting. At least six shots penetrated the driver’s side window. According to witnesses, the gunmen then opened the car’s door and shot the man again before fleeing.
He was shot several times at close range. At least six shell casings were located on the ground outside the driver’s side door. Municipal Police have not reported any arrests.
The now deceased is reported to be the alleged brother of a well known island drug dealer, however, an official public identification has not been made.
