Band of six sentenced to 50 years for running Chihuahua kidnapping ring

Chihuahua, Chihuahua — A popular YouTuber and his band of five have each been handed a 50-year prison sentence by a judge after they were found guilty of kidnapping.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reports 24-year-old Germán Abraham Loera Acosta, a YouTuber and leader of a kidnapping band, was sentenced after a judge found him and five others guilty of the kidnapping of a female lawyer for which they demanded $2 million USD in bitcoins.

The kidnapping happened in February of 2018 in the city of Chihuahua when the young woman was forced into a Nissan Pathfinder at gunpoint. A ransom was paid, however, she was rescued by police on March 2, which lead to the arrest of the band members.

The FGE said that those sentenced are Germán Abraham Loera Acosta, Jassiel Omar Molina Ceballos, Jesús Adrián Mendoza Pérez, Edgar René Subías Rubalcaba, Jesús Arnulfo Ochoa Martínez and Juan Alfonso Puerta Holguín.

Each man was given a 50-year sentence and fined 500,000 peso for damages.
