Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The wife of a man who was arrested in relation to the disappearance of an Isla Mujeres girl has turned herself in. On Tuesday, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) offered a one-million-peso reward for her capture.
The FGE has since confirmed she is in custody after surrendering to authorities early Wednesday morning. Angélica “V” is the wife of Marcos Antonio “N”, the man authorities also offered a one-million-peso reward for last year.
Both are suspects in the disappearance of Fernanda “C”, who was 12 when she went to their mainland Isla Mujeres home in July of 2022 where she worked housekeeping. Her mother filed a missing persons report when she failed to return home.
Marcos Anotnio “N” was arrested in the state of Chiapas in November of 2022. He remains imprisoned in Quintana Roo. His wife is also now in custody.
“The FGE of Quintana Roo informs that an arrest warrant was executed for Angélica “V”, who voluntarily appeared before the authorities of this autonomous body,” the agency reported Wednesday.
The day before she turned herself in, the FGE had issued a 1.5-million-peso reward for information on the whereabouts of Fernanda “C”.
Both Angélica “V” and Marcos Antonio “N” remain the main suspects in the case of the missing girl.
