Cozumel, Q.R. — Three island viewpoints of Cozumel have been opened to the public after being repaired. On Thursday, Mayor Juanita Alonso Marrufo inaugurated the opening of the viewpoints.
The three newly renovated points include Chumul, Chen-Rio and San Martín, which were in poor condition due to the passage of tropical storms and lack of maintenance.
Prior to the cutting of the inaugural ribbon at the Chumul beach viewpoint, the mayor of Cozumel stressed the importance of the renovations since they are some of the island’s most busy beach areas for both tourists and residents.
She elaborated that the project was in left in charge of the Director of Public Works, Carlos Daniel Pomol Gómez, who reported a cost of 998,630 pesos to renovated the viewpoints, which was carried out with resources from the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat).
