Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two of the three inmates that made a run for it from the Playa del Carmen jail Thursday, have been captured. However, a third inmate remains unaccounted for.
At around 1:30 a.m.Thursday, three inmates from inside the Centro de Retención Municipal of Playa del Carmen attempted to escape. Two failed and were captured in mid-escape, but a third, identified only as RSG, was successful.
One of the two, 36-year-old HHC from Tabasco, was shot in the leg by a guard, who shot the inmate to prevent him too, from escaping. He is currently recovering in hospital.
The unaccounted for RSG who remains free was jailed on drug-related crimes. Municipal and state police are actively searching for the missing inmate in a coordinated effort with the FGE.
