Cancun, Q.R. — A 17-year-old minor has been arrested in the murder of a 16-year-old. The arrest took place Monday after the shooting death of a 16-year-old teen in SM 236 of Cancun.
Authorities reporting on the case did not provide many details since both males involved are not of legal age.
In a statement Monday, the SSC (Secretariat of Citizen Security) said that “that in relation to the unfortunate event in the homicide of a 16 year old minor in region 236 of Benito Juárez, after joint action, the Municipal Police, with the support of citizens, arrested a 17-year-old young man who was allegedly the material author of the homicide.”
The 17-year-old teen arrested for the murder was handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office Specializing in the Investigation of Crimes Committed by Adolescents.
Additional information including the date of the murder or a motive was not provided in the official statement.
