Suspect charged in stabbing death of Isla Mujeres man

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police have charged a suspect with the stabbing death of an Isla Mujeres man. Carlos Alberto “N” is facing murder charges for the May 19 altercation that lead to the attack and subsequent death of an mainland unidentified resident.

In a statement, police said Carlos Alberto “N” “was charged for events that occurred on May 19 of this year, when he attacked a male with a knife, causing injuries that led to his death.”

The incident happened in the Isla Blanca area of mainland Isla Mujeres. Carlos Alberto “N” was arrested on the streets of SM 95 by elements of the Investigative Police of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Homicide.

During his hearing, a judge granted the prosecution the procedure and ordered Carlos Alberto “N” to remain imprisoned while he faces charges of qualified homicide.

On Tuesday, a man was sentenced to 31 years for the abduction of an Isla Blanca area resident that happened in 2022. Police continue to search for his body.
