Body never found: Cancun judge hands down 31 year sentence for kidnapping

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun judge has sentenced a man to 31 years for a 2022 kidnapping. He was found guilty of only kidnapping since the body of the victim has never been found.

On Monday, Carlos Antonio “N” was found guilty of forced disappearance of a man that he kidnapped with a group. “Based on evidence provided by the State Attorney General’s Office, the judge issued a sentence of 31 years and three months in prison, which he must serve in the Cancun Social Reintegration Center,” police said.

The events occurred in the early hours of April 24, 2022, when the suspect, along with three people, intercepted the male victim on the streets of SM 221, where they beat him.

“He was subsequently put in a car and taken to an unknown location, with no news of his whereabouts to date,” Cancun police added.

During his hearing the judge also imposed a fine of 481,00000 pesos and pay 874,722 pesos for comprehensive damages.
