Stubborn forest fires reigniting around Lázaro Cárdenas

Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — The Firefighters Coordination of Lázaro Cárdenas says there are currently six forest fires still burning in their municipality in the northern region of the state.

Recently, a sixth fire was reported on Héroes de Nacozari ejido land in the southern area of the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas. He says the two fires in the Port of Chiquilá have been burning the longest. When controlled and thought to be out, they start up again.

Erosa says combating the fires has been complicated by strong gusts of wind and intense heat, but they continue to battle the fires.
