Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — The Firefighters Coordination of Lázaro Cárdenas says there are currently six forest fires still burning in their municipality in the northern region of the state.
They say the fires have grown considerably with the arrival of strong winds and that two of the fires thought to be out have reignited.

Alejandro Erosa of the Firefighters Coordination reported that there are three active fires on Kantunilkín ejido land and two in the Port of Chiquilá that continue to be fought.
Recently, a sixth fire was reported on Héroes de Nacozari ejido land in the southern area of the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas. He says the two fires in the Port of Chiquilá have been burning the longest. When controlled and thought to be out, they start up again.
Erosa says combating the fires has been complicated by strong gusts of wind and intense heat, but they continue to battle the fires.

State Civil Protection Coordinator Guillermo Núñez says there are currently 11 fires burning around the state.
