State records another fatal crash after three killed in head on bus collision

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The state of Quintana Roo has recorded another fatal car crash, this time, claiming the life of three. A head on crash between a private car and public bus has left three dead and one injured. The accident happened Tuesday morning near the Mayan community of Muyil.

Muyil, which is mapped as Chunyaxché in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, is approximately 20 minutes south of the town of Tulum. Firemen and police were at the scene after motorists made the accident report.

Medical personnel confirmed three people inside the car were dead upon their arrival. The fourth and sole survivor was transferred to Tulum hospital in serious condition.

The accident happened when the driver of the private car is alleged to have tried to pass a vehicle, colliding with the oncoming bus. Due to the impact, the driver, front seat passenger and one back seat passenger were killed. The fourth back seat passenger survived.

Since the accident involved deaths, the area was cordoned off by Municipal Police of Felipe Carrillo Puerto while they waited for FGE personnel.
