Riviera Maya, Q. R. — Police from the municipality of Solidaridad responded to the report of a washed up body on a Xpu-Ha beach. On Sunday morning, municipal elements were called to the beach after reports of the discovery of a dead man.
Police entered the beach area from a private road off the Federal 307 in response to the 11:30 a.m. report. Residents in the area made the report to emergency 911 who said the dead man was laying washed up at the edge of the beach.
The man, who has not been identified, was reportedly found with a bullet wound to his head. It is not clear if the body had washed up from being in the sea beforehand or if the shooting took place on the beach.
Local authorities have not issued a public statement.
