Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police have increased their presence along Costa Mujeres beaches with the start of summer holidays. On Thursday, police stepped up their physical presence with additional foot tours along Costa Mujeres beaches on the Isla Mujeres mainland.
“As a crime prevention and deterrence measure, elements of the General Directorate of Public Safety carry out tours on foot at various beach points in Costa Mujeres together with personnel from the National Guard and the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico,” the Government of Isla Mujeres posted.
“This derived from the instruction issued by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, to guarantee peace and public order and in turn, safeguard the physical integrity of residents, tourists and beachgoers.”
The increased foot surveillance will continue on a regular basis with the official start of the 2023 summer holiday season. Isla Mujeres is one of the state’s destinations anticipating a high hotel occupancy rate for the summer holidays.
