Cancun, Q.R. — Sanitary security filters have been put back into place to help contain the spread of coronavirus. Authorities report filters have been set up at the entrances and exits to Cancún, Tulum and Mérida as well as Playa del Carmen.
They say the filters have also been added to attend to security, reducing criminal incidents. Several agencies including Public Safety and Traffic, Civil Protection and the National Guard are participating in the implementation of the filters, noting that freedom of transit is not being restricted.
The Secretary of Public Security and Traffic, Jorge Robles Aguilar has reported filters 1, 2 and 3 located at the entrance to Cancún, as well as a filter at the exit to Tulum. Another sanitary filter has been set up at the exit to Mérida. Filters around Playa del Carmen have also been replaced on CTM Avenue and Constituyentes Avenue.
Mayor Laura Beristain says the sanitary filters help detect possible cases of Covid-19, while also helping security.
