Riviera Maya Train worker dies after heat stroke fall

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A construction worker along section 6 of the Maya Train died after a fall. The accidental fall is believed related to heatstroke. The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) requested an ambulance for the man who is reported to have fallen from a height of around eight meters.

According to available information, the man was working on a section of bridge around 1:00 p.m. when he is believed to have become lightheaded due to the excessive heat.

He accidentally fell over the side of the bridge onto the ground below. Sedena requested an ambulance for the injured worker, however, by the time they arrived he had already died.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The name of the deceased has not been released.

On Saturday, State Civil Protection issued a heat advisory for the region warning people about the dangers of prolonged sun exposure as well as working outdoors in the extreme heat.
