Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The FGE began an investigation Friday into the Thursday night murder of a Felipe Carrillo Puerto woman. The unidentified woman was shot to death Thursday night inside a tortilla factory.
Area residents called 9-1-1 to report hearing at least six shots fired in the Leona Vicario neighborhood. Police located a woman who had been shot several times. Paramedics were unable to save her. They pronounced her dead.
Responding officers began a search operation for the gunmen but have not announced any arrests.
The woman is believed to have been an employee of the factory. She has not been publicaly identified. Authorities have not commented on a possible motive for the deadly attack.
In a brief note, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said “after the events recorded in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto on Thursday night, the FGE immediately began the corresponding investigations to find those who deprived a woman of her life.
“This internal body works together with all the members of the Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace and Security of Quintana Roo to prevent acts of impunity.”
