Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police are investigating nine people follwing a firearm attack in Isla Mujeres Tuesday night. The FGE says State and Municipal Police of Isla Mujeres, in separate actions, arrested nine people.

The eight men and one woman were taken into custody following firearms incidents that left two people dead and one injured on the island.
“These events resulted in the aggravated homicide of two people and the attempted homicide of another, who is receiving medical attention at a hospital,” police reported.
Being held in the deadly Tuesday night shooting are Diego Nathanael “N”, Francisco Emilio “N”, Luis Alberto “N”, César “N”, María del Mar “N”, Joel Diosmany “N”, Pedro Irán “N”, Joaquín de Jesús “N” and Efrén Ihuit “N”. Police say at the time of their arrests, they were found with drugs, long and short firearms and loaded magazines.

Those arrested were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Cancun. Local police are working in coordination with authorities to clarify the events and bring those responsible to justice, they added.
