Patrolling military find another 28 packages of drugs on east side of Cozumel

Cozumel, Q.R. — Another 28 packages of drugs has been located on a beach on the island of Cozumel. Authorities have not revealed what type of drugs were found or the weight, only that the packages were seen washed up on a sandy area Monday.

Since Hurricane Grace hit the region in August, blocks of drugs have continued to wash up on various Quintana Roo beaches, mostly in the vicinity of Cozumel and Tulum.

This latest package was seized by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) from the eastern side of the island. The large block found contained 28 smaller packages inside.

“[…] on the shore of the beach, they found 28 packages, which are estimated to contain some type of drug, being made available to the corresponding authorities,” reported Sedena.

The week before, Sedena elements located 8 kilos of marijuana that washed up on the eastern side of the island. Nearly a dozen packages of varying drugs and sizes continue to be found since the passing of the August hurricane.
