Pair transporting drugs in Uber Eats food warmer on stolen motorcycle arrested

Cancun, Q.R. — The State Attorney General’s Office reports that in collaboration with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and National Guard, they arrested Alan de Jesús “N” and Julio César “N” in flagrante delicto.

The pair were found in possession of 12.5 kilos of crystal meth. The packages of drugs were located inside an Uber Eats food delivery warmer. The warmer was attached to the back of a motorcycle the two men were found driving at the time of their arrests. The motorcycle was reported as stolen.

“The capture of these subjects took place on José López Portillo Avenue on the corner of Lombardo Toledano in Cancun where they seized 14 packages that contained solid substances of a crystalline color with characteristics similar to crystal, in addition to also seizing a motorcycle with a report of theft in the Public Vehicle Registry (Repuve),” the agency explained in their statement.

“It should be noted that with this seizure, the drugs will no longer reach around 12,500 people, which represents a financial loss to the criminal group of around 5,500,000 pesos,” they said.

“The above when considering that each gram of this narcotic reaches a price on the black market of up to 440 pesos, according to the World Drug Report 2022 of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC),” they explained.
