Tijuana, Baja Calfornia — Two people found transporting more than 47 kilos of crystal methamphetamine were taken into police custody in the Tijuana International Airport Monday.
In a press release, the National Guard reported that the pair, who claimed to be American citizens, were arrested. They were also found using apocryphal documents. Authorities say the drugs were discovered during a security tour in the ambulatory area of the airport.
According to agents, the man and woman were each traveling with a small suitcase and backpack between which the 86 packages of crystal meth bound with adhesive tape were found. A total of 47.2 kilos of drugs were seized and the pair, arrested.
