Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — Highway traffic was left at a standstill Friday when a cargo truck overturned. The driver of the small vehicle lost control of the truck, landing it sideways across both federal highway lanes.
The accident was reported Friday morning around 5:00 a.m. The overturned truck left the El Ideal-Nuevo X-Can highway completely shut. Dozens of angry motorists made reports to 9-1-1 regarding the blocked road and overturned truck.
Elements of the National Guard Highway Division arrived and requested the presence of the fire department. Through social media, motorists warned others to take alternate routes while emergency services removed the vehicle.
Driving at excessive speed has been the said cause of the overturned truck. The driver was not injured. Highway traffic was shut more than four hours until a tow truck finally arrived to remove it from the road.
