Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Human remains were found in bags on the mainland of Isla Mujeres. Area residents made the discovery Saturday evening on Químico Pastrana Avenue after following a foul smell.
Police arrived to verify the finding before cordoning off the area. Officers from the Isla Mujeres Citizen Security and Traffic Department responded to the scene and, after an inspection, confirmed that the bags contained human remains.
The body, believed to be that of a woman, was found inside three garbage bags. Local authorities have not commented on the weekend finding.
