Lázaro Cárdenas down after early morning CFE fire

Several communities including residents of Kantunilkín, Solferino, San Ángel and Holbox were affected. Early Monday morning, a substation fire at a CFE facility left thousands without electricity.

Throughout the day Monday, there were reports of unstable power returned to some areas, however, full restoration of services was not announced until early Tuesday afternoon.

Some areas of Kantunilkín began to see electricity between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. Tuesday with other areas following throughout the day as repairs advanced.

A short circuit at a CFE facility that supplies a large section of  Lázaro Cárdenas exploded and caught fire shortly after midnight Monday. CFE personnel began repairs which included the installation of power lines from the Popolnah substation for a temporary reconnection of service.

Businesses reported having nearly fully restored service before residential areas reported the same. City Hall said Tuesday that repairs have been made and power has been fully restored.
