Cozumel, Q.R. — Eight people have been rescued from a drifting vessel in waters off Cozumel. The vessel and its crew were pulled to shore by elements of the Mexican Navey after receiveing a distress call for help.
In a statement, the Secretary of the Navy of Mexico reported the rescue in a channel between Isla Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, saying that engine failure was the cause of the drifting vessel. Once they received the call for help, elements set out in search of Captain Leo and its crew of eight, including one minor.
The drifting boat was located with all its crew on board and successfully towed to the vicinity of the Marina Banco Playa in Cozumel.
