Navy supports island hospital in Isla Mujeres patient transfer to mainland

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Elements from the Navy provided support to an Isla Mujeres hospital Monday with the land evacuation of a patient. On Tuesday, the Secretary of the Navy reported on the medical evacuation of an elderly patient suffering a heart attack.

The island resident was transferred from Isla Mujeres (island) hospital to the mainland where he was placed into a waiting ambulance for further transfer. The transfer was made after the hospital requested assistance in transferring the 63-year-old man suffering from acute myocardial infarction.

The man was transferred by a Navy boat to Puerto Juárez (mainland port) to a waiting ambulance from where he was rushed to a Cancun hospital.
