Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Puerto Morelos firemen were called to a central restaurant in Old Town Monday. According to Public Security, firemen responded to the report of a rooftop fire at the Punta Corcho restaurant.
Staff from inside requested the assistance of firemen after their grass palapa roof began to burn. Since firemen were quick to respond, only a section of the dry grass and wood frame of the restaurant’s roof burned.
Flames were kept in check by staff with fire extinguishers until the fire department arrived. The fire is believed to have started due to bad electrical installation. There were no injuries reported. Civil Protection continue to investigate an exact cause.
