Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Merida man landed himself in jail Saturday after being found in possession of a rifle. Municipal Police seized the gun and ammo while arresting the man from El Pedregal.
According to Seguridad Pública of Solidaridad, he was located by police who were patrolling the residential neighborhood Saturday afternoon. During a crime prevention tour on 55th Avenue and 42nd Street in the El Pedregal neighborhood, they were hailed down by a citizen who said they had been threatened by a man who pointed his rifle at them.
Municipal police were quick to locate the man. “After informing him of the accusation, Leonardo “N”, 65 years old and originally from Merida, was arrested. In his possession he had a rifle and a bag with pellets,” the Agency reported.
He was taken into custody and placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for the crime of carrying a prohibited weapon.
