Cancun, Q.R. — One man was left dead in a Cancun street Saturday night after being shot during a mugging. The shooting occurred in the Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision after the man and one other were stopped while walking.
The pair were stopped by an alleged group of three who were armed with a gun. The trio demanded money, however, instead of complying, one of the men attempted to confront them, which lead to his being shot in the chest.
The second man was robbed of his 200 peso before the group of three fled on foot. Neighbors called the incident into Emergency 911, also requesting an ambulance. When paramedics arrived, they found the injured man had died.
Witnesses were able to provide descriptions of the three involved to police. No arrests were made.
