Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A man died by drowning Sunday afternoon off a Riviera Maya beach. Other people in the water noticed the man struggling to stay afloat as he was dragged out to sea by the strong current.
The accident was reported Sunday afternoon around 1:00 p.m. in the beach area of Xpu-Ha in Riviera Maya. The unnamed man, who is reported to be a Mexican national, died after being dragged out to sea.
He was returned to the sand but unresponsive to resuscitation attempts. Police were called as was the Medical Examiner to remove the body.
