López Obrador says new Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway to open in July

Mexico City, Mexico — Through his social networks, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced a new highway opening in July. López Obrador says that the highway that connects Oaxaca with Puerto Escondido will be inaugurated in July of this year.

Once complete, he says the travel time will be reduced from six hours to 2.5.

“Almost there! A large bridge and 12 kilometers of pavement to finish the Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway. Instead of 6 hours of driving time it will be reduced to 2.5,” he said.

“We will open it in July of this year. Hopefully by then we can also resolve the old agrarian problem between Sola de Vega and San Vicente Coatlán and achieve peace,” he added.
