Minatitlán, Veracruz — A Veracruz judge has imposed a six year prison sentence on Cándido “G” for the illegal transportation of foreigners. The Public Ministry of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) of Veracruz said that Cándido “G” was detained by elements of the Federal Ministerial Police in the municipality of Minatitlán when he was driving a tractor-trailer coupled to a semi-trailer.
Inside the units were a total of 297 illegal foreign migrants. INM officials determined the migrants to be from Guatemala, Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Cameroon, Ghana and Nicaragua. Of the 297 people, 100 were minor children.
On Thursday, Cándido “G” was sentenced to six years in prison and fined 403,290 pesos.
