Jalisco murder suspect captured in Cozumel as local drug pusher

Cozumel, Q.R. — The main suspect in a murder case in Jalisco has been arrested in Cozumel. The State Attorney General has reported on the capture of Álvaro José “N” on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Álvaro José “N” was taken into custody on the island in collaboration with the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office. According to local authorities, Álvaro José “N” has been a wanted fugitive since February 10, 2022 “for his probable participation in the crime of homicide.”

Investigative agents assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Drug Dealing detained Álvaro José “N” on Calle 3 Sur B in the San Gervasio neighborhood. During his arrest, he was found in possession of a variety of narcotics.

“The first acts of investigation indicate that the detainee is part of a violent criminal group dedicated to the distribution of drugs in the municipality of Cozumel. His function is to carry out intelligence work within the criminal structure on the island,” they reported.

Álvaro José “N” remains in Quintana Roo custody but will be handed over to agents of the state of Jalisco for his return to face charges.
