INM finds 270 undocumented people hiding in Veracruz hotel

Juan Rodríguez Clara, Veracruz — A total of 270 undocumented people were removed from a Veracruz hotel Tuesday by immigration officials. The 225 adults and 45 minors were discovered in a hotel in the municipality of Juan Rodríguez Clara during a verification visit.

Federal Migration Agents (AFM), in coordination with elements of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard (GN), the Secretary of Public Security of the State of Veracruz, Civil Protection and municipal police, located the 270 undocumented migrants during a hotel verification visit.

Of the 270 foreigners who could not prove their regular stay in the country, 45 are minors (30 boys and 15 girls) and 225 are adults (182 men and 43 women). Upon confirming their nationality, it was found that 205 came from Guatemala, 33 from El Salvador, 28 from Honduras, three from Nicaragua and one person from Ecuador.

The agency reported that the minors and those who make up family nuclei will remain under the guardianship of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) for their custody and protection, while the adults were taken to INM in Veracruz to continue with their immigration administrative process.
