Foot soldiers stumble upon bricks of cocaine in Cozumel sargassum

Cozumel, Q.R. — Weekend patrols on the east coast of Cozumel kept military personnel busy with the discovery of narcotics. Foot patrols Saturday lead to the finding of seven bricks of cocaine.

The bricks were found at two different times in different areas during the same patrol. Elements of the National Guard and the Secretariat of National Defense first found three bricks entangled in sargassum on the east side near Playa Tortugas.

Later that same day, another four were found, also entangled in washed up sargassum, at Punta Chiqueros.

The narcotics were seized and similarly placed at the disposal of the authorities who will use the packaging in an attempt to identify the origin of the narcotics.
