Cancun, Q.R. — Five men from Ecuador were rescued from an apartment where they were being held against their will. The rescue operation took place Tuesday from a building in the Sacbe residential area of the city.
Police were tipped off by area residents who reported the men were likely being held against their will. Inside one of the ground floor apartments were five men who had been abducted.
In an official statement, the SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) explained, “the rescue was carried out of five people, originally from Ecuador, who were deprived of their liberty inside a home in the Sacbe neighborhood of the city of Cancun.
“This action was carried out with coordinated work between the elements of the SSC as well as municipal police and the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo through a joint operation.
“It is important to mention that authorities from the National Migration Institute (INM) were immediately notified, who are already following up on the case on time.”
