Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad firemen were at the scene of a highway grass fire Sunday. Both municipal firemen and military personnel worked to extinguish the 2.5 hectare forest fire that consumed a brush area.
In a statement late Sunday, the SPC reported the fire had been completely extinguished after a coordinated effort between the two agencies. They did not, however, provide a cause for the forest fire.
“Thanks to the coordinated work between operational elements, firefighters and SEDENA, they were able to extinguish a forest fire of approximately 2.5 hectares on the federal highway 307 near the Sirenis Hotel,” the SPC of Solidaridad (Secretaría de Protección Civil, Prevención de Riesgos y Bomberos) said.
