Riviera Maya, Q.R. — An elderly American man is reported to have died by drowning earlier this week at a Riviera Maya water park. The California tourist died Tuesday after being rushed to a Playa del Carmen hospital.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon when the man suffered an incident inside the park. Details surrounding that incident are not known. He was reportedly treated on site by park medical personnel before being rushed to hospital by ambulance.
The tourist, identified only as an 81-year-old man from Los Angeles, was pronounced at the hospital. It is not known if was pronounced upon arrival or died after being admitted.
