Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Divers pulled the body of a drowned man from a lagoon Sunday along a section of the new la Puerta al Mar road. A 9-1-1- call alerted emergency services to the possibility of a drowned swimmer.
Emergency services were at the natural area of Camino de Vigía Chico around 1:00 p.m. in response to the request for help. Municipal police were also at the scene along with Civil Protection and divers to search and recover the man’s body from the lagoon.
They located the body of the now-deceased man approximately 30 meters from the shore. The accident happened at a lagoon around six kilometers from the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
The unidentified man was at the lagoon with friends when he went swimming and subsequently missing. Friends attempted a rescue but were unable to save him.
