Cozumel, Q.R. — Port Authorities are investigating a water collision between a boat and catamaran that happened off the island of Cozumel. The two vessels collided in the southern area Friday, leaving the smaller boat heavily damaged.
The two boat crash happened around noon between two tourists vessels. Both boats were carrying passengers at the time of the accident. The boats hit one another while crossing paths.
The smaller boat was left collapsed and trapped under the catamaran. Staff from the catamaran attempted to reach those stuck under the sun canopy of the boat that had become lodged under their vessel.
The Cozumel Harbor Master’s Office is investigating. There was no report on injuries, if any.
In July, a private boat from Cancun collided with a ferry vessel after crossing paths in Isla Mujeres waters. The private boat ended up partially sunk due to the collision.
