Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel authorities have arrested three men after they were found looting a local business that was damaged by the recent passing of Hurricane Zeta.
Police on Cozumel found the trio in the eastern part of the island after they were reported by passersby who saw them removing items from a store. Police were quick to respond, locating the three men and their Yucatan-plated vehicle.
An inspection of the SUV revealed a load of stolen items.
The director of Cozumel Public Security Guido Rosas López explained that the owner of the business arrived after the three subjects were arrested, asking only that they return the merchandise instead of proceeding legally.
Rosas López said that although the business owner did not file a complaint, police arrested the trio who were charged for administrative offenses for insults against authorities.
