Cozumel firemen use jaws of life to free three trapped in rolled car

Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel firemen were part of the rescue team to remove three men from inside a crumple car. The trio were left trapped inside the vehicle after crashing it in the north hotel zone of San Miguel.

Police were sent to the scene after receiving reports of the crash around midnight Monday. Cozumel firemen used the jaws of life to free the three trapped occupants.

They were transferred to hospital by ambulance with undisclosed injuries. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it went out of control and slammed into the base of a tree then flipped several times before coming to a stop.

The red Jetta was located on its roof in the center of the highway. The car, which was a rental vehicle, was a complete write off. The three men inside are reported to have identified themselves as members of the National Guard.
