Cozumel driver hits four people, collides with seven cars

Cozumel, Q.R. — A Cozumel man has been arrested after hitting four people and colliding with seven vehicles Monday night. According to Guido Rosas López, the Director Police in Cozumel, the 47-year-old island man is allegedly responsible for the traffic accident.

He said that Monday night, the driver of a pickup truck traveling on Avenida Rafael E. Melgar lost control at El Obelisco. Before coming to a stop, the driver of the truck hit a total of four people and seven vehicles.

The man has been identified as Celestino N, a local islander. Rosas López said upon his arrest, the man was transferred to the Public Safety and Traffic facilities where a breathalyzer test was administered. He pointed out that the test came back negative.

Celestino N has been referred to the FGE for the alleged commission of the crime of injuries and damages committed to the detriment of four citizens and the seven other vehicles involved in the accident.
