Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A man was killed late Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle outside Paamul. The unnamed pedestrian was identified by others as a local construction worker for the Maya Train.
The man was crossing the highway around midnight Sunday when he was hit while near the central median. The driver of the vehicle that struck the man stopped and called emergency services.
Paramedics confirmed the man as being dead at the scene. Police were called to direct traffic and take statements. The man was with several other workers when he went ahead first to try and cross the highway.
It was coworkers from a nearby camp who were able to identify the now-deceased as being a construction worker.
