Central island area without Net after fruit truck snags two poles

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A central island area of Isla Mujeres was left without Internet Tuesday after a delivery truck snagged a set of low-lying cables. The incident happened in the early afternoon when the small cargo truck was traveling Contoy Avenue.

The truck’s box became entangled in the lines as he passed, pulling down two poles. Those wooden poles landed against parked private vehicles along the residential street.

Three central residential neighborhoods were left without Internet for the rest of the day. The pulled-down poles are reported to have belonged to Telmex and Wizz.

The two wooden poles were downed as the driver continued on, not noticing that his box had snagged the lines. The poles snapped at the base and fell onto two cars. Splinters of wood was scattered along Contoy Avenue and Jurel Street as a result.

Civil Protection and municipal police were quick to the scene where they cordoned off the area while the broken posts were removed from the road.
